Does Anyone Know When The New Drug, Aduhelm, Will Be Available?
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

The problem with this treatment is that it would cost $56,000 a year!! However, The FDA said the approval of Aduhelm is based on a "surrogate endpoint" that the drug effectively removed amyloid plaque from the brain. Such an endpoint predicts but does not measure whether the drug will slow memory or thinking decline. Are there trials where someone could participate?

Has Anyone Experienced A Rapid Progression In Their Loved One?
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

Yesterday was a "Groundhog Day" of repetitive questions, with my hubby. This has happened before, but not quite like yesterday. When I told him that he had already asked that question 20 times, and that I had already answered it 20 times, he still insisted that he's just fine. (And it happened with more than one question.)

But after answering 20 times, I lose my patience. If I yell, then he "wakes up" and sometimes the answer will penetrate, but I feel just terrible afterward, and it makes… read more

Alzheimer's & Dinking?..
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's last year. We moved her to assisted living & she is miserable. Her drinking was bad before, but is worse than ever now. How do you get an 84 year old woman with Alz to go through treatment?

Question About Advanced Directive, DNR, And How To Interpret My Loved One's Wishes In Regard To The Advanced Directive.
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

I have a question about an advanced directive and Alzheimer’s. I am guardian of my cousin, age 79, who never married and has no family except for me and a few cousins who are older than us! I am 76, and the baby of the family. Her advanced directive states that nothing should be done to extend her life and contains a DNR. In the document there is grey area about what should be done for her, especially regarding illnesses that an antibiotic or surgery might cure. I’d guess that she is in stage 6… read more

How Can I Say No Without Being Negative?
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

My spouse often acts like a toddler, when I say "no don't do that" he pouts. He picks his nose and then puts his finger in his mouth, and when inside our home he asks if he can pee in the backyard, how can I say something that won't be so harsh that it has me sound like a Mom saying no, that's gross? Plus I'm pretty negative when he does pout.

Jello & popcicyles . Give them a try. I know they usually like sweets. If diabetic get the sugar free.
