Alzheimer's & Dinking?..
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's last year. We moved her to assisted living & she is miserable. Her drinking was bad before, but is worse than ever now. How do you get an 84 year old woman with Alz to go through treatment?

I tried using non acholic wine many years ago on a partner, it was so weird as he got just as drunk (a true alcholic he was). It may though just work on a alz patient (fingers crossed) .

Perhaps just give her so much a day and I bet even with Alz she will quickly know to spread it out sip by sip. hugs

We started getting dad alcohol free wine- we are very lucky as it's now quite popular in Australia with quite a few different brands. They are pretty good you wouldn't actually know it wasn't real wine.

With my grandmother, she was given a small jar of wine a day. She was happy with that. Perhaps you can replace the drinking with a fun activity that will help her burn off some of her frustration. What activities did she enjoy before her diagnosis?
