I decided to just take pictures of the food. What I will do with it, I'm not sure.
Thank you Steve for your updates. I think keeping those pictures is not a bad idea, but you need to speak to someone in the institute about your request for salads. Perhaps, if they bring up… read more
I have someone come in 3 hours a week, divided by 2. Not that much time but enough for me to scurry to the grocery store and back. He is manageable most of the time, with meds to control his anger &… read more
I've watched my dad take the SLUMS about five times. The same questions every time, every six months. It is painful to watch and he's gotten worse at answering them. That being said, does anyone else think that their loved one could do better if the questions were asked more slowly and clearly?
I've seen a few different people ask the questions (an assistant) and some read the questions SO fast, move on the to next questions quickly, etc. that I really don't think we're getting an accurate… read more
@A myALZteam Member I really appreciated reading your thoughts, thank you. Good points. My best to you and your family. I admire you and your attitude.
I would start a journal and take to the doctors next apt . Or just make an apt for this kind of behavior .
My life - and the life of our 16 year old daughter - is continually bouncing from one disaster after another as a result of my husband’s mid-stage Alzheimer’s. He cannot realize that his capabilities are not those of who he used to be or even those of a normal person. So he has extremely poor judgement which leads to bad things happening. In November, he was the cause of an incident that led to thousands of dollars in damage to our home (still in the process of being fixed). Last Thursday, he… read more
Ha!! It does all change when the fluids start ! My husband had more events than I care to remember. I was working full time, thankful I was able to find a person to come in the house for 6 hours… read more
Normally, I have changed my Mom every time she does anything at all in her diaper, provided I am in the room with her and know. Otherwise, I check on the diaper situation at reasonable intervals. Lately she sometimes just flat out resists and gets disgusted at having to be bothered with getting changed often. This must be because it is definitely painful for her to need to be rolled/helped from side to side
Now she will give the silly excuses such as, "It's just gonna happen again.", or… read more

Sorry to hear of your ill health. I do fear getting sick as the sole caregiver. I have decided to begin spending some money and have hired part time caregivers, three in all. Monday/thursday 5… read more
My husband still hadn't put the switches up. I'm not electronically trained to do this. We had bought some dusk to dawn night lights. My dad did something with them. Haven't found them or his light good jacket that he put somewhere.
I have been giving him 10 mg of melatonin. Apparently my husband just told me it's not working! All this week, I thought it was working. So much for communications! It was my husband's ideal to bring my dad to our house. Now he seems totally against it… read more
JanieceStewart, I have to agree with you! No one wants to see to help! Before we moved my dad to our house, our daughter in law said, move your dad here. We did, and they haven't helped at all! My… read more
My husband goes one day a week to adult day care and I think he likes it. He has always been a social person. The social interaction does good for him. It depends on the indivitual person. God bless… read more
