So i just have decided to start telling him that they were just here a few days ago. He dont remember and it seems to calm him down. I really hate lieing to him but i didnt know what else to say. Hub’s doctor finally agrees that he needs to see a neurologist for a MRI. He is resisting any exam or meds. Doctor wants to rule out several possibilities… basically FTL, early onset ALZ or tumor. So close to a dx and yet so far. Any advice from those who have been there?

My mother can't do any of the things she used to enjoy like cooking, reading, shopping, traveling. She can't follow plots or comprehend more than a headline. Although the tv is on all day she isn't actively listening anymore. To keep her occupied we have reorganized dresser drawers & her jewelry box, gone through boxes of photos & worked on the family tree together. I am the daughter of a sweet mother (88) with dementia. I can absolutely not get her to bathe. She insists that she just took a shower when it has been at least 4 weeks since her last one. I have tried everything I can think of: telling her we will have a spa day and I will help her if she wishes. I bought her a nice shower mitt and shower gel and a stool to sit on while in the shower. Is the type of dementia they have important?

My dad lives over 4 hours from my house with stopd. Today, I'm going to my Dad's house. He thinks I'm coming up later this month. Is it okay to just pop in without him knowing I'm coming? Anytime I go, he cleans everything up. I want to see how he's doing and get lots of things accomplished while I'm there. He hides certain things I want to take with me this trip too. No matter how many times she’s been told by numerous doctors about her dementia she is still in denial. She says things like “I think they’ve made a mistake”

He talks about them as if they were still alive, and We've taken him to the cemetery to see where they're buried but of course he forgets a few hours later. He's constantly asking about them and wants to know why we or they don't visit. We always have an excuse that seems to comfort him for the moment. It's just easier to go along with him than to explain their passing because it was so heartbreaking when we told him the truth a while back.
