My daughter has this issue. It was explained to me that they have a fear of going backwards kind of like the trust thing where you trust someone will catch you when you fall. I always put my hand on her back. I don’t know that it helps.
Last week when she said she needed the bathroom, I took her to her room and thought that was enough. She turned and said “what do I do now”. So I took her all the way to the bathroom, walked her the the steps and we went on. That was hard to think she couldn’t remember the process.

Time for Diapers... that won't be easy either.

Toileting seems to be one of the biggest problems ongoing. I agree the carpet is a bigger problem than the tile floor. I plan to remove the carpet in the near future and replace it with tile. Meanwhile I purchased some spray carpet spot remover and then bought a spot carpet cleaner. This is the one area that tests my patience.

Wow! I know how you feel. My LO is using the toilet less and I have to double pad his disposable briefs. We could be just talking in the bathroom and without any warning he just starts peeing. The doctor explained that there is no communication from his brain to his bladder. I have to keep a constant eye on him. Even when I take him to the bathroom every 2 hours. I can clean up the tile floor but the carpet is more challenging. I keep a urinal in the bathroom by the sink. If I see the stream coming, I try to catch the flow.

He most likely has frontal temporal lobe. We are about 2 years since symptoms started. He also has BPH and holds his urine for 12 hours at a time. We already tried a Foley and he tries ripping it out. Urologist is just giving meds to keep prostate from growing and bladder relaxer. He is not constipated but is now pooping when he is peeing so I don't think his brain knows which end needs to go. He also refuses to wear pullups. He has had a skin sensitivity and always has worn soft clothing. At this point pickup on the floor is easier than digging it out of his rear if it is squished. I never had this much mess with my two kids this disease is horrible!
