I take mom for a drive when she wants to go home. After a little while she gets tired and we go home.

I get the money thing and the home thing. It usually passes eventually. I would like to go the too, unfortunately I live here

I too have my husband determined to go home ( insist we live in upstate NY and haven't lived there in over 20 years). I get him to the car and go for a ride, sometimes to a close friend or just a long drive. Seems to calm him so when we do get home he's happy.

You can tell him later you will that you have a few things to do first. Are I take him to his bedroom and sit with looking at pictures and he has many pictures also I play his country western music and this is his room with all his favorite things. Sometimes it works .
