Getting someone with Alzheimer's to drink enough fluids can be really challenging — you're definitely not alone in this! Many myALZteam members face the same struggle.

Staying hydrated is really important, as dehydration can lead to concentrated urine, discomfort, and even urinary tract infections (UTIs), which can worsen Alzheimer's symptoms.

Here are some tips that may help:

- Make drinks easy to find — Place cups or bottles in visible spots around the home
- Offer drinks they enjoy — Favorite flavors or warm drinks like herbal tea can be more appealing
- Try water-rich foods — Fruits like watermelon, grapes, or cucumber have high water content
- Use smaller, frequent sips — Rather than pushing a full glass at once
- Limit alcohol and caffeine — These can actually increase fluid loss
- Track intake — Aim for around six to eight glasses of fluid a day

Try to offer more fluids earlier in the day and taper off closer to bedtime to help avoid nighttime bathroom trips.
