Kelly, I have been in the Lecanumab (Lequembi) drug trial for over 2 years. It has been approved as a treatment now for Alzheimer's. Look at it as a possible option for you. My wife & I feel I have held steady for 2 years. I should have been in a nursing home by now according to my doctor before I entered this trial. I am adding you to my team.

Great question! Kisunla (donanemab-azbt) is one of two FDA-approved treatments designed to target the root cause of early-stage Alzheimer's by removing beta-amyloid buildup in the brain.

Research has shown some encouraging results:

- People treated early had a 27% lower risk of progressing to the next stage
- Those who started treatment sooner tended to see the greatest benefits
- Benefits appear to grow over time with continued treatment Before starting Kisunla, doctors typically confirm amyloid buildup through a PET scan or spinal fluid test. Ongoing brain monitoring is also required during treatment.

Some known side effects to be aware of include:

- Headache
- Increased risk of falls
- Allergic reactions
- Temporary brain swelling or small areas of bleeding (seen on MRI scans)

These side effects can sometimes be serious, so regular check-ins with a specialist are really important.

While there aren't specific member stories about Kisunla shared yet on myALZteam, it's always worth bringing up with a doctor to see if it might be a good fit.
