It makes me crazy when people say they have the cure....yeah, right!
I call this a “wretched disease”. It is so hard for the person to reconcile the gap between when their brain is working and when it is not. I am thankful for new medications and it does give some hope of slowing this train down. But the reality is the reality and that is always forefront in our minds.
That's all I am trying to get her to understand. The longer you put it off the quicker it's only going to get worse quickly.
Hi Kenny! My mom had a bad reaction to her first medicine, it made her heart slow down and she felt terrible. So we tried a different one and that's been going well. Maybe you could talk her into going back to try a different medicine since she was willing to take the first one. Your Mom sounds like she's as stubborn as mine! The medicine only slows down her deterioration, it won't make her better - that's the hard part.
Are you able to shut down her account or stop payment? Hide the charger? Set limits on when she can make phone calls? Maybe you could pretend to be "helping her" with something on the phone and modify the settings.
