My mother gets up in the middle of the night and is found on the couch with a gallon of ice cream and a spatula. This happens every night. Isn't there a way to get her to sleep through the night? Anyone? I really need help.
When my wife was getting up in the night (and frequently falling), I installed heavy duty bed rails to prevent her from getting up. I suffered from a guilty feeling that I was holding her against her will, but that guilt was better than multiple trips to the ER at 2:00 AM. There were no more nighttime falls once the rails were installed.
Melatonin has been helpful for us.
My Dr. switched her sleeping pill. Has helped so much
Maybe see if her doctor can prescribe a sleep aid, like Ambian (not sure of the spelling), or even try a Benadryl?
