The answer is "no!"
You are in charge now. You have a 2 year old on your hands now. He must be treated as such.

My input is not clinical, but "he is not the adult in the room, anymore!" Meds may help with anxiety/depression/etc. HOWEVER, a person with dementia is no longer able to make sound, rational, and correct decisions. THAT'S why we need family and caregivers! IF your family is "on the same page" with his , perhaps a family "intervention"is in order. HE is not in a position to dictate who, how, or what of his daily needs. The doctor may be of hell, as well. That's MY input.

I suggest you join the closed FB group, "Caring for Spouse with Dementia". Just find it on FB and request to join. While I personally have not yet dealt with this issue, I bet others have. To date I've not yet found any behavior, not matter how odd, that hasn't happened with someone else. Big hugs to you!
