We decided not to return my dad to the care home as the treatment for MRSA while in the hospital has taken a toll on his frail body. Doctors cannot do anything else for him medically so we’re in the “ make him comfortable” stage. We want him home with his family but still need help with changing, bathing and moving him from room to room.
Hospice is fully covered by Medicare. In addition to the hospice staff they will provide medications & medical supplies.
We put Mom on hospice 3 weeks ago. At that time she could walk with a lot of assistance and could get in my brother’s SUV. Now, unable to walk but a few feet and little to no appetite. Hospice has been incredible. Every request from bedside commode, hospital bed , meds and all care supplies provided. Our care team is great to work with. The first hospice nurse didn’t listen to us, we talked with them and they have changed to the perfect person. Medicare is covering it all.

Hospice is covered by Medicare/insurance. No charge. Best decision to ask your doctor for hospice. Be sure to ask how often a home health aide will come. Hospice will help your loved one and especially you!
