Having better days. I also lie to my husband when he asks. They came to see him about 2 weeks ago and he was so happy to see them. I like seeing him happy even thou he asks me after they leave who were all those nice people. Telling him it was your kids and grandchildren he just smiles and its funny how he calms down. But when he starts asking questions and I don't know what to say , a little lie won't hurt. We just need to care for ourselfs first because who will take care of him. Hugs💖🙏
Hi don't worry about your innocent lie. You did what you had to do to calm him down. I do not like my husband to worry . At first when he was alert i could not lie but now I do lie when I think its better for him. You will see later that he will not remember. My husband does not know me anymore but I still love him and protect him. He is suffering enough with his DEMENTIA So be good to yourself OK. HUGS
This is a good idea. I will try it
Whatever makes him comfortable. The first time I had to do a white lie was hard as I was brought up to never lie. I felt so quilts. Then our pastor said God understood an that made it easier.
My Mom hates where she’s at because it is not at home with me. The nursing home is the best in town and they really take good care of her. She just doesn’t know it.
Mom gets upset when I don’t see her daily. The work week is very hard on her. I might ask them to start telling her that I saw her earlier in the morning. That might help.
The way I see it, if it causes them pain don’t do it. If it makes them satisfied and able to carry on for the day, lie. It’s a mercy gift at this point in their lives.
God bless you and praying for your good health. It’s a lot of work even when you are a healthy caregiver. Take care of yourself.
