Yes, I am one. Although I live only two hours away from my Mum (patient) and my stepdad, they are both in their 80's. I try to get home for at least a couple of days every two weeks to give my stepdad a break. Mum still won't allow any caregivers to come into the home, and Dad won't take the fight on with her. And even if you had a discussion with her about it, she will forget it the minute the last sentence ends. So worried, as we want to keep her at home, but it's very hard when we can't have a PSW or other caregiver come in. She seems to be deteriorating quite rapidly now so eventually we'll get to the point where she won't notice the difference. Sad. Fortunately, my spouse is supportive of us getting a little apt down there or my moving in Mondays-Thursdays if that will help. We're not quite there yet, but at least he's open to the idea. I lost my daughter 5 years ago tragically, and therefore, he understands that I have to be able to look after my beloved Mum in the best way I can.

This is hard. My mom still works full time and there is someone that stays with him when I can't be there. I try to stay a few days to help but usually my husband and I go once a week.
