Has Anyone Had Experience With Seizures?
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

My mum had a seizure yesterday, resembling an epileptic seizure. It was really frightening and she fell unconcious afterwards. After she recovered she seemed to be fine, although she was very pale and her blood pressure was low. This may be her second seizure. I don't know much about them. I tried looking up info online and it said 10-20% of ALz people in the later stages may have seizures, one article suggested Aricept should be discontinued in late stage Alz for that reason. That is such a heartbreaking description of how your life has been, checking the phone for missed calls. There must be a huge hole in your life right now. It takes a while to sink in fully, Joanne. The initial relief is for her, the loss for you will take a bit longer.

Its is so difficult to watch something like that happen. I know you must have felt very helpless. In my sisters case, it was brought on by dehydration. I paid attention to how much she was eating, but have to admit I didn't realize that she wasn't getting enough water. She enjoys drinking tea, but that apparently added to the dehydration. That may not be the cause in your case, but its something to keep in mind.

How awful for you. Your poor mum and you to have to see that. I understand full about not wanting to upset her re hospital etc. they seem to decline further with stress and trauma. My mum passed out a few years ago, I panicked and called an ambulance, the stress of hospital and tests were worse than the passing out. She passed out again a year later and I put her in the recovery position and stayed with her, she was fine and happy no ambulance etc was called. Not know much about seizures though, sorry, can't help you in that area. Best of luck she doesn't have another one.
