My Mom has always been dominating and in command, very opinionated, more negative now, insulting (and says why do you always take it that way), how can I just let it go. Trying so hard realizing you cannot rationalize, or even have a constructive conversation at times.
Trazadone really helped Frankie with anxiety and also falling asleep.
My husband was diagnosed 4 years ago and just before Christmas he has become increasingly confused and agitated as the daylight fades. Endlessly asking when he is going home etc etc. What is the best way to help him out and handle this please, Sue Arden

My father has been prescribed Ambien for his active wakeful nights. He walks around the house and keeps the family up asking questions. The Ambien only seems to work a few short three hours. I fear this drug is just inappropriate for someone who wakes in a state of confusion and only seems to cause more confusion after a 3 to 4 hour power nap. Anyone else?
My husband is on xanax. he has tried several drugs for alzheimers and he has reacted badly to all including trazadone. The xanax has been the only drug that seems to help even a little. He is on the… read more
Mom unusually woke this morning with extreme tiredness and confusion. As a reminder from an earlier post, mom broke her ankle and was placed in a cast this week, she is using a walker. She got up to use the restroom and I could hearing her mumbling about not having any toilet paper when there was actually plenty there. I went to check on her and she had fallen asleep with her head resting on her knees. It took strength to get her back in an upright position. She had very little strength and I… read more

Just thought I'd let you all know that my husband was getting very depressed as his alzheimers is worsening. He was even saying he wanted to die and he's had enough of this world. His appetite had hit ground zero and he's very underweight anyway so that was a big concern. The doc got him on to citalopram 20mg once a day. Brilliant!!!! after a couple of weeks a huge change.... hes happy every day now and that makes the alzheimers much more managable. I totally recommend it. He's getting a… read more

The doctor has approved melatonin but only when hubby has trouble falling asleep.
My mom is 74, diagnosed with Alzheimer's 4 years ago. Her symptoms are markedly worse when she isn't sleeping well and when her stress level is high. Sleep seems to be a constant problem for her. Her doctor prescribed a very small dose of Quetiapine 3 nights a week, but I feel like the medication might be making her confusion worse, and she seems to hallucinate sometimes, especially during the night, and I wonder if that is also caused by the Quetiapine.
Has anyone had a doctor recommend a… read more
