Yikes, @A myALZteam Member! It sounds like you need to communicate to all your family, her doctor, and her friends what is happening so they will know not to believe her. Elder abuse is so common, folks make assumptions too soon. I am going to the Social Security office with my mom to become her official beneficiary, so her money will come directly to me. I just need to bring the financial information and a letter from her doctor stating she is unable to take care of her own affairs and why. Your mom may not be ready for this, but it will be handy for you to have as much control and documents (like Power of Attorney and Power of HealthCare Attorney, and her will) as possible. I don't think your mom is ready to cooperate with all that yet, but it will come eventually. Hang in there!

You are right and l have been says that, but the problem is she know what she think is good for her.And don’t know if l should say this she call and told my brother that l hit her this morning. And he going to call SS on me, but was not here when she got first thing this morning. Had a appointment first thing this morning and didn’t get back at home until around 3:00 pm. My sister husband told him you need to talk to your sister before you make a call not know the truth. The problem with him he is thinking mom is the mom before all of this started. And she told some other people that she talk today . And l say l wasn’t here with you this morning to her she didn’t know what to say. When she gets mad at me she makes things up. When she call she need her heart medication. And she didn’t take any medication like she should have.

Hey @A myALZteam Member! Maybe your mom would respond to knowing she is helping you with her behavior. Something like, "Mom, it really helps me when you wear your hearing aids because I don't have to speak loudly and I know you hear me better". My mom wants to be a help so that works with some things. "You are making it easier for me and I really appreciate it! I see your effort!" gets me a lot farther than reasoning with her.

I have Alzheimer’s. But I am not at the stage of creating reasons exactly. Alas I am at the stage of wishing my neurologist would listen to me or such. And occasionally I do something that I have never done in my life, walking out and crying somewhere.
