Almost every time I speak to my LO he asks me to repeat it. I think he can’t hear me so I say it louder. It angers him and he says to just repeat, NOT louder. He “hears” me when I repeat, more slowly. Makes me wonder if he just can’t process my words and needs time to focus and comprehend?

He may not be comprehending the words correctly. My husband had hearing aids for years. When he started having more problems whe went to Miracle Ear and had him rechecked. It was the Alz progression that was causing him not to understand. I made sure I was facing him and talked slowly. That helped.

Read about aphasia. I think it will help you understand what is going on.

Im so glad you asked this. I always assume it is because my husband doesn’t have his hearing aides in but it may processing as well because sometimes they are in.
