Hubs drives fairly slow. Not sure if it is related to vision or perception. Know this is something I will need to deal with sooner rather than later, and I already mentioned it to eye doctor to monitor the situation. Today he mentioned that he wanted a new vehicle. Doubt that will happen.

I used license renewal to get my husband to stop. I told him he needed to complete the renewal process if he wanted to keep driving. He could not.
I think my thoughts were about the split second decisions he as a driver would have to make. Driving ok is one thing, but the ability to react very quickly is critical. It is a huge potential legal liability particularly if it is documented and known he has the disease. You could be sued for everything you have. I know it's a big difficult adjustment for individuals with dementia. Personally, though my husband was driving fine, I was so relieved after he stopped. His doctor can be involved as well. I called our insurance agent as well. Good luck.
For me it was when my husband was supposed to pick me up at our long time auto mechanic and I watched him drive right by and then he drove by in the opposite direction. He did not know where to go. I had also noticed things like getting confused in a rotary.
Like everyone it is very hard to give up that independence, but I just had to do it. It was a helpful that his doctors backed me up. He still says I will drive, but thankfully he is ok when I say I don't mind driving. Good luck

My husband’s actual driving skills far outlasted his ability to remember where he was going or what he was supposed to do when he got there.
