It seems like Cortical Basal Syndrome is the most accurate diagnosis for my husband, however the treatment is unchanged from Alzheimer's and Parkinsonism. Does anyone have knowledge of the course of this dementia variant?

I read several different articles (etc.) and posted the link to the Mayo Clinic info because it provides info in a clear manner — and clarity is very important, when you’re dealing with an atypical variant to begin with (which makes it inherently complex and difficult-to-understand!)

@A myALZteam Member I've read many of these clinic reports, but this one really clarified that there is CBS and there is Alzheimer's with CBS symptoms. Very likely, Mike has the Alzheimer's version because of the way his symptom's have progressed. Also when we applied for a clinical trial early on, he had amyloid plaque, but no tau at that time, a hallmark of CBS. I know the true diagnosis can only be made on autopsy. As I said before, the treatment is really the same, so at this point it's probably more of an academic discussion. Thank you for this information it gave me something else to think about. You are a great resource.
@A myALZteam Member: I did some reading, and it appears to be an atypical variant of Parkinson’s & Alzheimer’s, involving tau protein.
