I placed my wife in a nursing home about a month ago after the memory care facility said they wouldn't accept her. I made the decision base on what was best for her. She was starting to wander and getting up and trying to leave the house in the middle of the night. She has adapted well and is safe. She appears to have found her community and I am comfortable with the care she is receiving. I hope you find this care for your loved one!
@A myALZteam Member, safety - his and your - is, I believe, the most important consideration. Given that you are at breaking point, I would say your living situation is unsafe. Your well-being is probably more important than his, in my opinion. If you can't function, you're no use to him.
I moved my husband to a nursing home (UK) last November and it was the right thing to do. He is safe, well and much calmer. I am safe in my home again, my health has improved and, importantly, I've relinquished the role of carer and reclaimed the position of wife. Our relationship is so much better for it. There is so much to be gained.
Nan, they felt that the disease had progressed to the point where she could not follow instructions. The nursing home I have her at had been wonderful!

I think the health safety of you both is part of the consideration. If he needs more help than can be provided at home, it may be time.
Also, how you are faring. Has his care become too much for you to physically and mentally manage. It must feel very overwhelming and my heart goes out to you. Hospice can really be of assistance if you haven't investigated this resource. Bless you
@A myALZteam Member I've added you to my team. I'm curious as to why Memory Care wouldn't accept your wife. It seems like she would be a perfect candidate if she is wandering and putting herself in danger.
