Unfortunately, that is how Alzheimer's works. I happened to be lucky my mom knew up to the end.

@A myALZteam Member: That's very helpful info (that I hope to never need, but will store away, just in case.) Great approach.

That is so hard to deal with. It happens occasionally with my husband. It is a fairly common experience with this disease. It can also come and go. The best that can be done is to regularly assure her that you are there to help her to and will be there any time she needs you. Trust is huge. Good luck.

When I visit my husband in NH, he wants me to get on the phone and call his mother. She passed away in 2018. I just leave my phone in the car.

I agree. My husband is doing this more and more now. Sometimes he cannot be convinced that I am me. He believes I am a woman he worked with but cannot remember who. He told my daughter it was just a friend and nothing was going on between them. Sometimes he gets anxious thinking Anna (me) will come in and be mad because they are here. We tell him I have ran an errand, gone to have coffee with my aunt and uncle who are our neighbors. I have even told him Anna knew the other lady was here staying with him till she got back. It's hard but doesn't upset him as much as trying to convince him I am me. He seems happy with that. God bless you. I hope this helps.
