ALL of us -- (Caregivers + our Loved Ones) -- can benefit from these articles!
From the first, very easy-to-read article
"Strict adherence to a Mediterranean diet was associated with an 11 percent reduction in all dementias among older adults. The association was even stronger when only Alzheimer's disease was considered, with strict adherence to a Mediterranean diet being associated with a 27 percent reduced risk of Alzheimer's."
That's huge. (Please click on "read more")

@A myALZteam Member I am reading all kinds of background papers about the toxicity mechanisms alluded to in your famous paper on lipid droplets. Absolutely fascinating to see all these ideas fall into place, I hope to resume posting about loads of new insights. So, (not having much time) just a tiny flippant observation on your latest illustrated post on the Med Diet: I love the Small Glass of Red Wine in that diagram. I now need to start cooking our own Mediterranean meal.
@A myALZteam Member I share your longings for cabbage salad, in my Canadian days in Calgary it was called coleslaw. Will include it tonight in our Med meal!
5-a-day diet. Five fruits and vegetables every day. That's been my diet for years. I eat less meat now. 3 months of eating meals at the senior center and we have not had one lettuce salad! I like cabbage salad best.
Concerning exercise. I read book by Pat Summit, coach for Lady Volunteers Basketball. She had early onset and has passed away from the disease. She power walked 5 miles a day and lived a very active lifestyle. I know exercising has many healthy benefits.
Salads are fabulous at Aldi. $3 and you get about four choices!
@A myALZteam Member I whole heartedly think Mediterranean is a great diet. Like @ Bshep, I try to work on our diet as much as possible. I am a vegetarian, husband in is not. My husband too likes what he likes and yes, ice cream, chips, and other sweets are among his favorites. Thank you for another great share!
