I do the same….people understand. If my mom ends a babble with the question …Am I Right?…I give a nod and people will say yes…or I think so.
I just winked and said AZ
Someone posted recently about printing out business sized cards to give to others that explain their loved one's condition. I modified the original to fit our situation: My sweet mother-in-law has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. She has a 30-60 second cognition (memory only lasts 30-60 seconds). Repeated instructions and patience are appreciated. I am here to help answer questions and support her in this difficult situation. Thank you for your understanding.
I was given these cards by the Alzheimers Society here. I use them so often and they immediately resolve the confusion and create empathy. My husband is so friendly and now makes so little sense but he smiles and people generally respond favorably.
LesliePrice, you can go to Avery.com to design and print your own cards for free. The website is user-friendly, and they'll help you if you need it. Good luck!
