My husband is obsessed with this and can be very inappropriate at times. Any advise would be very appreciated. I am new in this group, this is my first question, I am sure I will have many more.

@A myALZteam Member My husband’s worst symptom was hypersexuality. He was very inappropriate verbally and physically (frequent masturbation and exposing himself to staff). We live in an aging in place retirement community, and my husband is in the locked dementia unit. When all else failed, he was put on Premarin. When he was taken off Premarin, the symptoms of hypersexuality returned. His diagnosis is frontotemporal dementia with behavioral variant. The psychiatric physician on his care team prescribed and monitors his Premarin.

@A myALZteam Member, I thought this was the worst part of my husband’s descent into ALZ hell. It prevented me from getting qualified caregivers and at least 3 agencies declined to provide me respite service. I finally found an older male caregiver. My recommendation is to talk to his primary care doctor or neurologist as soon as you can. Meds will be prescribed. Also, be at the ready for some quick diversions, steering into some different behavior. Last but not least know that this is not him and in my husband’s case, it did mostly go away. It is the disease causing the inappropriate behavior. I’m sure many on this site have experienced similar actions. Maybe they can add to my comments. Stay strong!

That is maybe the side effect if sine medication. My husband had that problem (not very bad) along with other symptoms… in his case , it was anti depressant and the doctor stopped that medication and the problem is gone. You can talk to his doctor.
Hope it will be gone
