Associative visual agnosia is impaired object identification.
Patients that have visual agnosia are unable to identify visually presented objects. They can identify these objects through other modalities such as touch but if presented visually, they are unable to. These patients cannot create a detailed representation of the visual world in their brains, they can only perceive elements of whole objects. They also cannot form associations between objects or assign meaning to objects.
Their eyes work, but their brain can’t process the signals sent from their eyes.
Conditions that cause or involve these kinds of disruptions include:
• Alzheimer’s disease.
• Dementia

At first I thought he might have "male refrigerator blindness" 😉
(Okay all you men, don't get mad). But as time went on I realized
it was more than that and did some research on my own.
