Sun City Center, FL

my husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2016. When he tries to talk to me, ask a question, make a comment, etc. He whispers and I can't hear him. I keep explaining to him he needs to raise his voice so I can hear him. I have tried whispering back, he agrees he can't understand me then, but he just doesn't understand. I don't know what to do. Does anyone on my team or not have any advice for me. Thanks bunches. Hope everyone is doing as well as you can.

My husband doesn’t exactly whisper but he talks in s very low flat voice. I have asked him too many times to count to please talk louder because i can’t hear you but ad you said they either don’t understand or forget? I finally gave up. I try to answer him but Im just guessing. So I inderstand what you are dealing with. Sorry i have no answers to help you.

Dale pointed a lot. I could ask him to wash his hands, but he couldn't put them together. His brain was misfiring. So, talking became difficult, too. He mumbled softly, then he stopped talking to me.
I saw one lady who sang like an actual bird. She never answered without a song. Everyone is so different, but the same.

Boy can I relate! My husband is getting lower and softer and I am hard of hearing. Aghh, it gets tuff. Sometimes I ask him to come over where I am to talk. You might try that. I'm thinking there may not be a solution. The disease affects every part of their body. 😢

This is a new one for me. How long has had the whispering behavior? Did he have to be real quiet as a child? He may be in that stage, if he had to whisper during that time frame. Has he been checked for a sore throat? Sorry for all of the questions, but I'm an RN and need to know more details to help, if possible💜.
