I have that same set of books and they were very helpful to me. I also have the one titled Dementia at the End of Life that is very informative.
@A myALZteam Member had a good explanation for this behavior, at least it made good sense to me.
He thought that because her senses may be in conflict with each other and causing more confusion, by closing her eyes and just listening helps her focus on what’s being said without the added confusion her eyes are giving her. Shutting down one sense and focusing on the other.
We’ve been in the late/last stage of this disease for a little more than a year. I recently picked up this collection of books written by Barbara Karnes RN. Easy to read, simple and straight forward. In my search “for what’s next,” I found these books very informative and they helped me wrap my head around what to expect as we move closer to the end.
I found this 5 book collection on Amazon for under $20.
