Lindammm, my wife was diagnosed as being in Stage 7f of the Functional Assessment Staging Tool (FAST Scale) (the last step) in mid-December, 2021. She died in late January of 2023. There is no way for me to say that 13 months is typical of the final stages of ALZ. The variability among ALZ patients is huge and there is no central database of statistics. So my honest answer is that there is no way to know in advance how long your wife may continue to live.

I’m leaning everyone is different with this disease. I first leaned my LO had this disease in 2021. He has Vascular dementia. He is now in a wheelchair . In my opinion, I believe vascular dementia patients declines faster. I could be wrong.

My husband has vascular dementia and has continued to decline. Biggest decline was when he had Covid. Slowly gaining strength in legs and some brain improvements. Take him with me everywhere, but I need respite care. Live in a rural area, hard to find help.
