First, have you been able to sit down with the nursing manager or facility director to express your concerns? Moving can be very traumatic- and while I believe you are frustrated - you don’t want to jump from one group of problems to another one.

I suggest perhaps asking a family doctor, insurance company, pastor, rabbi and or close friends and associates. There should also be a health advocate at the facility or within you local city/county. I think there is also ratings from Medicare on facilities. Personally, I have not had anyone in a care facility and would be very interested in the responses you receive.

I have started to look into a different facilities but I am running into the issues of no vacancies for her level of care. I am still trying to get the care facility (administrator, social service, nursing staff) to answer to calls. I am going to have to take a day off of work and visit in the morning. My next step is to talk to the Ombudsman, I really do not want to go to that extreme; I am already treated by some of the staff like the bad guy every time I ask a question or make a request.

O agree with most of this response. The part I may have a different view on is that my Dad’s facility was chronically understaffed so the patient load was too high for adequate care. I did all of the things she listed but never saw any marked or sustained improvements. The more he deteriorated, the worse the more pronounced the care taking problems became. It remained a total frustration until his death. The falls were the worst and plentiful. He wouldn’t stay in bed or in his chair and they didn’t have the staff to watch him closely enough. I attempted to relocate him but could never find a better placement with a vacancy. Good luck. Stay diligent and pray that you have better luck than I.
