With OUR children, from a very young age, we told them the correct name of the disease, that Nana might say or do weird things, and no matter what, Nana loves them, and please be loving and patient around her.

There are lots of good picture books out there too, and some articles listing them. I've searched "kids books on dementia" and found some good lists. The only one I've read so far is "Wilfred Gordon McDonald Partridge" by Mem Fox but I definitely recommend it. (Warning: I can't get through it without crying.) You should read them by yourself first though to see if they are appropriate for your situation. My best to you.
