Short Term Respite Care

I have a couple of events I dearly want to attend. I feel it would not be good if I took my husband with me. I have the option of 5 days respite care.
Has anyone had their LO in short term respite care? If so, what was your person like upon being back home with you?

Members shared experiences with short-term respite care for loved ones with dementia, with most reporting that their spouses adjusted well and often didn't remember the stay afterward, making the return home fairly smooth. Several members offered practical guidance on accessing respite care, including contacting VA social workers who can provide lists of partner facilities, reaching out to local departments of senior affairs, or using Caring.com to connect with appropriate services. A recurring theme was the emotional weight of needing a break while worrying about how a loved one will handle the change, balanced by community encouragement to prioritize self-care and take full advantage of respite time without guilt.

Since my husband wasn't remembering much, it was not bad when he came home. It was just another day . They said he was fine but asked for the other lady ( me) the told him I was off.

My husband is going to respite care next month for the first time. I'm nervous about how he will do. I requested it through the social worker at the VA. We are allowed 30 days per calendar year. I sure hope it goes well for both of us.

I have no experience with respite, but the others commenting seem to feel he'll be OK.
