I'm having a problem trying to find some kind of help. I take care of my mom. She's 87. I had to stop working. I'm her only caregiver and it's taking a toll on me. She has Alzheimer's but she's in mid stage. Forgetting who Iam. Hiding things. Not listening to me. Please if anyone has anyone has any advice I'd be very greatful. Sincerely Donna Cohen
Depending on your mother's assets, you might find services available through your local County Services for Aging. Social Workers can explain eligibility requirements. Another option is to talk with an elder care attorney. I found caregivers through a local church. Paid them cash and they were worth every penny.
I found help through care.

In some states, they do not have to be in final stages to get hospice help.
Call her primary care doctor and tell them you need a referral to home care. Her insurance and or Medicare should pay for this.
You should find someone where you live that has staff of aids trained for helping in the home for those with Alzheimer's. I got a list of companies from a social worker. You may be able to just do a search online for
getting Home Help. Any Elder Care agency, Department of Aging, should be able to give you some recommendations.
It's very important for you to get started right away as the situation will deteriorate quickly and you will need more help. I go shopping and go to doctor's appointments when the aide is here so she can stay with my husband and see to his needs.
You will have to pay for this, it's hard to get help from any local government agency; depending on your mother's income. Good luck.
