Help With Bogus Phone Calls
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

My husband is addicted to his cell phone. He answers calls from foreigners claiming to be from the FBI, CIA, Drug enforcement, etc. He gets us into a lot of trouble. He even changed his Medicare and now we can't get in to see a doc. What can I do? He gives them ss#'s, bank #'s, ikes! He is still in middle stages and says he's going to leave when I get angry or try to explain. He doesn't remember all the trouble he's caused before. I'm beside myself and worry about leaving him alone. Thank you… read more

Thank you, good idea! I will look into that as an option. It just may be my answer depending on the cost.

Heredity, I had Tony tested after he was scammed for $11,000.00 out of all our bank accounts. He let them on our computer. It was a very tough time. I cried a lot, mostly for the work to report, change accounts, passwords, etc. I finally decided to retire 2 years early after it happened again. I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. Of course, now he can't operate his phone or computer but it was all for the best that I was able to be with him for this journey sooner rather than later. We have lifelock and they catch any little thing. It is totally worth the money for peace of mind. God bless uou.

Look up RAZ Mobility. This is the phone I got for my mom after she "won money on a game show" and almost lost $27K and had cashed a check for $5K for "a warrant out for her arrest." This phone is designed for dementia/alzheimer patients. Good luck!

What a horrible story, I can certainly feel for you. It sounds like he could use the help of an antidepressant, did wonders for my husband's anger issues!

My husband loves his phone too. I have walked into the room and he is talking to “someone” on the phone but he hasn’t gotten into the trouble your husband has.
You can try what i did. I got “robo killer”. It did cost something for a year (i forget but it wasn’t too bad). It has stopped him from getting those calls from scammers. So it was worth it to me because i was so afraid that he would get us into the trouble you are dealing with. Also my son was able to do something on his phone to make it harder to make calls. Hope this info might help you too.
