My husband has developed a tremor which makes it hard for him to get food to his mouth. He has mid to late stage Dementia. Any suggestions on eating utensils or ways to make it easier for him to eat?
I have a tremor that I control with meds, and I'm in with finger foods. Sandwiches, pitas, wraps.
Soup in not too full cups.
Bouncy foods like peas are good with mashed potatoes, or scrambled eggs.
Deborah, when my wife developed tremors in her right arm, she learned to feed her self with her left hand. Then after my wife was unable to use a fork, I gave her a soup spoon so she could feed herself. After she was unable to use a spoon, I cooked meals that she could eat with her fingers. Now that she is bed ridden and can barely lift her head, I have to feed her.
Mom ate her tomato soup with a straw. I know it doesn't work with other foods, but it was an idea I would never have thought of. Does he have a hard time holding the utensils or just getting to his mouth? They make childrens utensils with an easy to grip handle. I looked on Amazon and checked silverware for Parkinson's patients. There were several styles to choose from. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=silverware+for+parki...
