My mom is early enough in her Alz that she sometimes knows she is confused, other times no. She gets on kicks such as "the tv isn't working, it's just looping the same show previews over and over," or "They haven't changed by bedsheets in 3 months." How do I know when to say "the tv is fine, I get the same shows you do," or "Mom, the dirty sheets are in your hamper, see?" We have these same discussions frequently, I don't know how to know when to "go into her world" vs try to bring her back to… read more

If my mom is awake, she's talking. usually asking the same 6-7 questions over an over. i just keep answering them. i would try to keep you voice to sound matter of fact and that it's the first time you're answering that question or responding to the complaint.

It takes a lot of patience wish I had concrete answers for you. My best advice is to simply say I will see what I can do

I just
go with the flow, I get into his world, reality, and ease a way out if it and change subject. When my husband gets frustrated as an example , his phone don't work, and wont let him call on it,😁 ( when he is talking to me on it). I tell him I'll come look at it and show him it does work, If hes having his days where our place is different, we walk through the home and I ask him what's different or changed to you. We do it then go on with something else. He has his days, šŸ˜‡Yes it all about keeping the. feeling safe, comfortable and loved. Hard to do ,we are human. šŸ™GREAT SITE FOR VENTING, AND SUPPORT. You will find your Norm.Have a good day. BLESSING Debbie

@ Suzanne Thanks for the reminder. When I’m really tired, I will hear that ā€œfor the 100th timeā€ tone in my voice. I hate it and feel bad as soon as I hear it, but it’s already out and I can’t take it back. So change my tone up and try not to sound as frustrated as I am. Sometimes it’s easier said than done.
