I am struggling with it too hon, the decline from surgery is just intense. I brought her home on comfort care and it is excruciating for me. HUGS up to you lovie, this is a hard road.

If you read my bio you know that I have been doing this professionally for many years. This is my observation YES. Anything traumatic can cause the switch or switches based on where they were. So for instance my mom stage 6 dementia, had a fall minor surgery and home on comfort care likely going to pass soon. Before that she was feisty, and all over the place and doing what she wanted and ate like a mini horse. Now she is refusing food, even liquids off and on. I offer but often get told no or nothing. She is having conversations with people not there. My aunt, had NO signs living a lone, doing her normal including walking two miles every day..took a fall and couldn't live independently again. My grandfather didn't have a physical injury but when my father passed he made significant and quick changes. I saw the same in my patients it doesn't take much to push the envelope of what their bodies can handle.

My husband has had and still has Alzheimer’s and Lewy Body for the last five years. Is it from deterioration because of the broken femur?
