Anyone Else Have Family That Just Stopped Cleaning?
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

My dad is 80 and has vascular dementia. When I go over to visit on the weekends I noticed that the house is more and more dirty, cluttered and smells like urine. My mother spends her day sitting in the couch playing games on her phone and my 45 year old brother is useless. I've tried to address it but it falls on dear ears. Im embarrassed to go over anymore.

Colleen: Please contact your parents’ local County Services for Aging. At this stage of Dementia, your parents may qualify for assistance. Social Workers will meet with you and them and let you know what you can do to arrange for their care.

Keeping up with the daily household cleaning is so tiring it is exhausting! No one can imagine unless they have been there!

I told my mom today to call and she said my dad won't want strangers in the house. I think my brother needs to step it up. He is 45 and lives at home rent free with his 18 year old daughter. There is no reason they can't clean.
