For my husband, when he was first tested, processing speed was a major problem along with short term memory. You can maybe help your husband by talking in shorter sentences and slowing your speech if you are a fast talker. As with anyone with ADD, getting their attention before starting to tell them something is very important.

My husband has ADD and memory issues. Most of what I am seeing at this early/mid stage is a continuation of his disorganization, inability to keep up with items, inability to finish or start tasks, etc. Also, throw in his inability to learn anything new is also a factor. I don't think in the long run any of this makes much difference. My son summed it best when he said, this is still Dad, just more amplified.

My husband was originally diagnosed w/possible Alzheimers approx 10 years ago. He showed very slow progression of the disease until about 6 months ago where he went through a.very strange mental downward spiral period. Was then diagnosed with Ichslemic dementia. He leveled off since then.. so confusing.. One day at a time we move along and every day is different.
