What Can I Do When My Pops Refuses To Eat?

A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭
Lathrop, CA

Hes eating and drinking less everyday. I give him Ensure to try and make up some calories and nutrients but I know its not enough because my mom says she hears his stomach growling when hes sleeping. Hes been hallucinating, and mumbling alot too. Hes losing so much weight and is so frail.

Fit crunch protein bars a really good. Not overly sweet but nice flavor. I love the triple chocolate. Reminds me of the old fashioned wafer cookie. It sits very light in the stomach. Good luck.

I got to a point with my mom that some days she just needed more calories. Plus remember everyone’s taste buds change as they get older and I think more so with dementia/Alz. For food my mom did better with simple thing like meatloaf, baked potatoes, macaroni & cheese, French toast etc. I also made sure to have cookies, ice cream & rice crispy treats on hand. One other thing you can do is add vanilla ice cream to the insure to make it more of a milkshake.

Oh my That's bad. My husband loves Sweets. Maybe true what he loves.. They
can have everyday. I just say my husband is almost 86.. Don't care how good for him ..just eat. He ask for cookies ok! He'll stall with veg. He like a meat. And home soup. Also I try eggs often. I may have to get him new bigger pants. You know he don't walk much & exercise much so tummy looking like he eats slot but her don't really.. Always a cookie or something after a meal. That helps finish his meals.. Like a kid bribe him
