Bless your heart! Yes, everyone should monitor the facilities their loved ones live in! As a retired RN, I see absolutely no reason for your treatment by doc and staff! Just outrageous. I agree on one drug at a time....enables assessment of side effects. Also sounds like your father really needs Memory Unit care. Usually staff are better trained to understand and handle behavior. Looks like the one he was in was a definite exception! You will need to visit various facilities before placement. In my prayers!

so as of today he is being weaned of Xanax and put on Seroquel, not both..Just starting off with 1 so we can monitor side effects.

My husband is also sundowning.....sees a man, once helping me daily and then sitting next to him while he snoozed. I just reply I didn't see him and tried to divert attention which usually works. Sure can't argue or try to challenge delusion!

That’s good because a UTI could produce the same symptoms! My thoughts are with you and hopefully this will work out for the best. Please keep us posted.

I’m sure they will get him started on the proper drugs and straighten things out. Was he ever checked for a UTI (urinary tract infection)?
