How to cope and remove the scent from Urinary incontinence?

My husband has been urinary incontinence for one and a half years. He's been to doctors with no intervention benefiting. I have come to realize it's part of this illness. But I have tried everything to remove the stains and sent. He also fails to change clothes so the smell is intense. He just doesn't have control or he fails to go to a bathroom. Apathy is the result. Any suggestions?

Members shared practical solutions for managing urine odor and stains, with many recommending pet stain removers (which work equally well for human urine), baking soda left on carpets overnight, hydrogen peroxide for stains, and adding vinegar, oxygen cleaners, or Downy Unstopables to laundry. Several members described the emotional toll of incontinence in dementia, including spouses who become angry at themselves for losing control, track urine on shoes and floors, and resist changing clothes or accepting help. A recurring theme was the exhausting daily reality of constant cleaning and laundry, the apathy and lack of awareness that comes with the disease, and the deep empathy caregivers feel for their loved ones' loss of dignity.

Glade makes a wonderful pet odour removal for carpets and works well for human odour . (.White bottle with blue lid.) Downie Unstopables in laundry also works well on bedding and clothes.. OK I have done my Comercial for today.LOL.😁 My friend replaced all her carpet s with flooring.She said she had tried everything.I guess if you can afford to it would be the best.

I have been using vinegar, baking soda and clorox urine remover for stains and odors. It has helped tremendously! Hope it helps :)

I used pet stain and odor removal past my husband's incontinent episodes. Works great! I even put a little bit in my mop water when mopping his bathroom floor and in the bleach dispenser when washing his clothes.

After absorbing as much as I can from the carpet with paper towels, I scrub the stain with a cleaning solution, repeat blocking with paper towels and the last step is covering the damp stain with baking soda and letting it stand for 24 hours before vacuuming... the baking soda kills the odor and pulls up and absorbs the remaining moisture and stain.
