Has he had a change of meds lately ?
My hubby has just been taken off his third type of Dementia tablets as has bad side effects on them
This last one he was talking to the wall as if it was a person & telling me someone was behind me stealing !
Really spaced out .
Today without that tablet he is much better .
Check with Dr as a UTI has effects also ..
Rule other thing out first But this time of year with darker afternoons will have a effect on him also .

Yes...I had similar experiences with my father of forgetting who his family was. Again its the disease and not their fault. They did not ask for this. Thoughts and prayers

It's called Sundowning! My husband started experiencing the same thing last September. I was shaken the first few times it happened, but reading up on the subject helped me understand and deal with what was going on. Unless he's scared and needs soothing, I role play and go along with him. It also helps to keep lights on everywhere...it really does help.

It sounds like hubby has some sundowning thinking later in day....folks with Alz get confused when lighting is low inside or outside. I have a bright ceiling light that I turn on every late afternoon that seem s to decrease sundowning.
