Sorry to bother again (I'm fairly new to this scene!!) but is it common in people with AZ/Dementia to see flashing lights ?? My husband spoke of this and it has been a real struggle and taken 3 weeks or more but I eventually got him to attend an Optician appt and they checked his eyes out thoroughly and there is no evidence of a detached retina or anything going on with his eyes, so I wondered if this is maybe a 'hallucination' or something like that which ive heard of?? Any ideas anyone?

Because the brain is affected the part that interprets what the eyes see can act up in all sorts of ways. From seeing illusions, strange people in your house and also being unable to see stuff they are looking straight at. So flashing lights and any artefacts are all possible. My Emily has been going for 10 years and sees all sorts of things. I find her talking to imaginary people and even people on the tv. I try and act as if everything is normal and just calm her down and distract her if she’s upset (which is rarely). Sometimes I bring her a mug of tea and even when I show it to her she doesn’t seem to see it. I then put it in her hand. Just be patient and try to get used to the fact that his mind is affected so strange behaviours may surface.
Flashing lights may just be a typical sin of the vitreous gel behind the retina thinking which happens with age. I have it too. Not dementia relates. Just aging....
No I haven't heard of this.i am going to a carers meeting this morning, so will ask for you,xx.
Could it be an ocular migraine?
Should say, typical sign! Won't let me edit...
