My mom had never been verbally abusive until recently. She had the Type A Influenza which turned into pneumonia. My brother and I took turns spending the night in the hospital with her. Since then she has gotten pretty hateful with both my brother and myself. She loves my husband because he always brings her strawberries. Yesterday I told her that I was going to leave and she told me to go on. Which I did.

You must always remember your mom’s actions are out of her control.

Yep I started to use some of my childhood discipline strategies of not encouraging misbehavior by giving myself a time out until I could act and not react to misbehavior.
