I have been going through this with my mom for a few years now. We almost lost her because her sodium levels got so low. But thanks to a hospice nurse that really cares, (and the doctor at the hospice organization) she was put on an anti-depressant that increased her appetite. But the last few days, all she does is sleep. This only helped for a short time though. She has lost more weight the last few months (only weighs 90 lbs), and is having trouble eating. I fear we lose her before long, but I almost want to pray God takes her soon. She has suffered for so long.

Jan 123, praying for you and for the caregivers. It makes it difficult for sure!
I was diagnosed last July and I continue to do the normal things people do.
I pray that a time will come that there will be a cure for this hideous disease hopefully sooner than later!

My husband also has issues with eating. He is most comfortable with French fries and sweets. He has lost weight. I have noticed that a full plate of food seems to confuse and overwhelm him so I try to go a little simpler he is also having issues with cutting up his food so I have started cutting things up for him. He still likes toast with peanut butter which is a blessing.

Thank you to everyone who responded to my question. I moved my mom into my home 30 days ago and signed her with hospice. She hasn't eaten or had any real fluids in the 30 days she has been here. We keep her comfortable with meds. Hospice ordered oxygen today and they said she probably has 24-48 hours. I'm thankful for that, there will be no more suffering. In to Jesus arms.....
