My hubby does not want to brush his teeth. I was told to use a kids toothpaste( no fluoride in case they swallow it), that hasn't worked. Is there a mouthwash or smithing I can use/ give him because his breath is horrendous

maybe try Altoids or something like that. Tell him its candy? You may end up doing it yourself if it needs to be done. It is impossible to reason with an Alzheimers person and that is the only way we have to communicate with each other.

Biotene is great mouthwash for folks on several meds that sometimes cause this or being mouth breather or with acid reflux. However, must ck with pharma to see if would be okay if he does not remember to swish and spit but swallows instead. There is also a small spray can to freshen breath. Another thot is EXTRA Watermelon gum or other flavored gum can really freshen breath. Just make sure he knows how to chew and will spit out for you. Could be shoking hazard according to the person.

My husband will brush (electric toothbrush) if I initiate but he does a poor job. He now has his teeth cleaned every 4 months rather than the usual 6 months. He has dental insurance so we only have to pay for one of the cleanings each year. So far, so good!

It's not always teeth which cause bad breath. Is there a chance he could be constipated? This can cause horrendous breath. With the the teeth brushing you could do yours at the same time, or try using use a kids toothpaste or will he crunch mint sweets?

Try gum as long as you can get back from him. Bro likes EXTRA Watermelon gum. Thanks to ones who suggested children's toothpaste - was unaware of fluoride danger.
