What Is The Best Kind Of Doctor To Find Out And Treat The Form Of Dementia One Has?

What Is The Best Kind Of Doctor To Find Out And Treat The Form Of Dementia One Has?

My wife, who is 81, was told she has Alzheimer's by our primary doctor, who is a "Family Practice Physician." He made that diagnosis by talking with her, and giving her a 4 page test he downloaded from the internet. We've know that there are other forms of dementia, which may be treated differently than Alzheimer's. Are there doctors with different specialties whom we should see to make certain which form of dementia she has, and how better to treat it? Perhaps a geriatric psychologist or… read more

Does Anyone Else’s LO Have Pain In Their Legs?

My husband has bad pain in his right leg when he walks. He grimaces and signs a lot, even when sitting. Sometimes I have to help him to the bathroom. Also, his foot swells and turns blue. I am going to call his doctor today but was wondering if anyone else’s LO has experienced this.

What Are Good Activities(arts & Crafts) To Help My Friend Who Has ALZ? She Is In A Rehab Floor In A Nursing Home.

Today I brought a picture book. I took photo's of flowers - all different kinds - and had her go through the photo book. She loved it. Picked it up several more times to look at the pics. I had two - the second one was of Sunflowers. Pics from a Sunflower farm I went to two years in a row. She loved that pic book too! Does anyone have any other ideas? This one was good so I wanted to share. Oh I will add just a couple of pics. Thanks.

My mother is in a memory care facility and has continuously continuously gotten urinary tract infections.. She is very mean when she is on them. But today when we went to take her to the urologist we found out she did not have one, but she was very angry and anxious and it took us an hour to get her out of the home and get her to the doctor. They told us that she even hits them when they try and get her to take a shower. It's very difficult to see her so anxious and agitated. It makes us sad… read more
