Dad Is Incompetent Because Of His Alzhemers. Mom Died Last Week And No One Has Power Of Attorney

Dad Is Incompetent Because Of His Alzhemers. Mom Died Last Week And No One Has Power Of Attorney

I knew something was going on with my dad 5 years ago. I tried then to get him to initiate POA and other healthcare and financial planning issues. My mom was all onboard but my dad just refused to believe he would ever be in a place that someone else would have to make any kind of decisions for him. LONG story short, my 86 year old dad had a cervical infusion surgery a few months back that I was totally against, but… read more

Co Habitation Settings With A Spouse, And Costs.

Co Habitation Settings With A Spouse, And Costs.

I'm familiar with Alz after my mother lived with us for 5 years until it got advanced and she needed 24 hour care. Now my husband has it. We downsized two years ago, and currently live in a one story home on some property. My questions is about future living arrangements. I am currently healthy and 67. He is 70, and mid stage. I'm trying to think about possible future needs, and wondering if there are any places we could still live together (or very nearby) when I… read more

Someone just told me that Medicare pays for 2 weeks of respite care per year. We're not there, yet, but could be valuable in the future.

Should My Parents Go To FL For The Winter After My Mom’s Recent Alzheimer’s Diagnosis?

My parents recently moved to a new state to be nearer their children after mom’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis. This change has been difficult for mom. Every change seems to rattle her. They usually go to FL for the winter but we are concerned that yet another change is not a good idea. Thoughts?

I tell him no I never said I would call. Our daughter told him after he ran into the fence a put a good dent in his truck that if he got on the road that she would call his Dr. is that sun downing being it’s about the same time frame each time? What can I tell him to get it off his mind?

Anyone Else Have Family That Just Stopped Cleaning?

Anyone Else Have Family That Just Stopped Cleaning?

My dad is 80 and has vascular dementia. When I go over to visit on the weekends I noticed that the house is more and more dirty, cluttered and smells like urine. My mother spends her day sitting in the couch playing games on her phone and my 45 year old brother is useless. I've tried to address it but it falls on dear ears. Im embarrassed to go over anymore.
