While looking for a local counselor, here are some immediate strategies that may help manage anger:
• Practice deep breathing exercises or meditation
• Try journaling to express your feelings privately
• Take short breaks when emotions feel overwhelming
• Consider joining local support groups for caregivers Many caregivers find success with the "redirect and release" approach:
• When feeling angry, step away briefly if possible
• Focus on a small task nearby to calm down
• Write down your feelings without rereading them

@A myALZteam Member: I'm sorry you are having to deal with this disease, and I hope you find a lot of information and support on this site.

I think every Caregiver needs three things, to survive this journey as a Caregiver:
1) this virtual Support Group;
2) a local, in-person Support Group; and
3) a therapist.
...so I truly hope you are able to find a local Support Group and a therapist in your area. The local Support Group gives you live people to connect with in your area, who are also dealing with this disease, and those who are ahead of you on this journey will share information about your best local resources (the best adult day care program, etc.)

The three resources will help you to channel your anger at the disease, rather than at the patient who has the disease. The patient didn't want this disease invading their life, either.
