Assuming that it's your mother who is diagnosed with moderate-severe Alzheimer's, I'm guessing that the current arrangement (two names on the deed) is likely to provide better protection for the value of the property, in the event that your mother eventually requires long-term care (memory care or nursing home) and needs to go on Medicaid.
